This restaurant was a standalone location with hole in the wall vibes. The food was southern fare but very good. I have blackened whitefish and deviled crab in a seafood combo with black eyed peas, turnip greens, and hush puppies. The veggies were seasoned but not necessarily to my liking. The whitefish was cooked but not hot so that's the reason for the four stars. The appetizers were fried green tomatoes and corn fritters - delicious, but could have been seasoned. The rest of my party had the chicken and dumplings, pork chop, fried liver and onions, and the thoroughly enjoyed their meals. Also, sweet tea was The parking was ample and the restrooms were okay. The building had a leak in the roof but the staff and service was amazing. They were very funny, personable, and attentive.

Fried whitefish sandwich was delicious. The fish was fresh and hand battered fried with sliced tomato and lettuce on a hoagie bun. Fried okra was hand battered and the best we had in a long time. Beefy, chuck hamburger was very good with fresh tomatoes and lettuce. Fried hand battered shrimp were good size and fresh. It needed sauce for some added flavor. Biscuit was big but nothing special. Service was good with attentive, friendly server. Dining area was booth and tables for casual and cozy atmosphere. AC was making it very cool for some of us. Decor was southern like with humorous jokes and Southern talk in the menu. We enjoyed our lunch.

Friendly staff, it reminds me of a good home cooked meal even though it's not as good as grandmas it's the next best thing!
